About this extension

Remove Reels for Facebook is a Chrome extension that hides reels, sponsored posts, and other clutter from your Facebook feed. If you keep getting pulled into recommended reels and ads, this lets you turn them off.

It works right inside Facebook. You can hide reels, stories, sponsored posts, marketplace ads, search ads, birthday reminders, notifications, and People You May Know suggestions — pick and choose what stays and what goes. There is also an option to keep reels from friends while blocking the rest. Clean Mode removes content without leaving empty gaps in the layout.

Set your filters once and Facebook looks the way you want it every time you open the site.

Clean Mode adjusts the page layout after removing content, so your feed does not end up with blank spaces or broken sections. The friend-reel filter is worth noting: it blocks algorithm-recommended reels from strangers but still shows videos your actual friends posted. A good starting point is to turn on the reels and sponsored post filters first, then add stories, marketplace ads, or People You May Know as needed. Your settings save automatically.

This is not a generic ad blocker. It is built specifically for Facebook's page structure, so it does not break layouts the way broad ad-blocking rules sometimes do. It works by filtering the page DOM in your browser rather than blocking network requests, which keeps it lightweight and compatible with other extensions. Useful if you use Facebook for work communities and do not want the distraction, if you share a computer and want fewer random reels showing up, or if you are just trying to cut down on screen time without deleting your account.

Why You Need This

💻

Staying Focused at Work

You use Facebook for work groups or client communication but reels and suggested content keep pulling you off track. Turn them off and keep the feed work-relevant.

🧘

Cutting Down on Doomscrolling

Reels and stories are designed to keep you watching. Removing them from the feed breaks that loop and makes Facebook less of a time sink.

👨‍👩‍👧

Shared or Family Computers

If your family shares a computer, filtering out random reel recommendations means fewer surprises in the feed. Keep it to friend posts and groups.

🚫

Less Ads in Your Feed

Sponsored posts, marketplace ads, search ads — hide them all. What is left is posts from people and groups you follow.

How It Works

Frequently Asked Questions

What Users Say

Finally, Facebook is usable again. I was spending way too much time on reels without realizing it. Now my feed is just posts from friends and groups I care about.

— Karen J.

The sponsored post removal alone is worth it. Combined with hiding reels and suggested content, my Facebook feed is actually enjoyable again. Clean Mode works perfectly.

— Mike T.

Love being able to keep friend reels while blocking the random recommended ones. My only wish is that it could also filter specific topics, but for what it does, it's excellent.

— Sandra L.

I installed this to reduce distractions while managing my business page and it works exactly as described. The granular controls let me keep what I need and hide everything else.

— Daniel O.
